Here is an update on the SCG T8 StediFast HD kit that I've been working with for the last few months. Thanks again to the Smooth Camera Gear team for sending this out.
TLDR version.
It's a great tripod. I've used it flat out for the last few weeks across a few countries, and really like it. High quality, good value. If I didn't already have one, I'd be buying one.

Long version…
I've dragged it out on shoots in Malaysia, Thailand and then some regional work here in Australia over the last few months, and have been really happy with it. We were shooting conference and events work in Malaysia and Thailand, so it was pretty chaotic, and having the SCG T8 StediFast HD in the kit meant it was one less thing we had to worry about.
The biggest thing for me with this setup is how effortless it's been. I haven't had to think too much about it, apart from being pleasantly surprised with a few features that perhaps I hadn't been expecting at this price point. It's a nicely built tripod, with a really useable payload, super smooth fluid head with fast to use pan and tilt drag. The counter balance on this tripod is strong, but we had the optional longer baseplate that meant we were still able to get it nicely balanced with the longer lens. My kit came with a ground level spreader. I usually prefer no spreader, but this one has been really good.
Previous things I've noted that are still really useful. The single clamp for all three stages on each leg makes it super fast to setup. Being able to dial the fluid drag all the way out is handy for whip pans.
It's been bouncing around airports in my HPRC tube with my other tripods, stands and sliders, and hasn't suffered any scuffing. I'm always try to be careful with the carbon fibre legs, but these have resisted scratching so I'm pretty happy with.
